Vermilion is a city in Erie and Lorain counties in the U.S. state of Ohio, on Lake Erie. The population was 10,594 at the 2010 census. The current mayor is Jim Forthofer. The Lorain County portion of Vermilion is part of the Cleveland–Elyria–Mentor Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Erie County portion is part of the Sandusky Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Vermilion is located at 41°24′29″N 82°19′02″W (41.408005, -82.317254). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.8 square miles (28.0 km²), of which 10.7 square miles (27.6 km²) is land and 0.15 square miles (0.4 km²), or 1.53%, is water.
